Only if the people of the United Kingdom want them to. And so far, while there's a sizable contingent that would like to see the monarchy abolished, the British have not, in large numbers, agitated for an end to it.
There are reasons why many British people want to keep the monarchy: to them, it represents the history and traditions of their nation, it functions as one symbolic focus of patriotism. There is value in an institution that helps constitute a sense of national identity and continuity.
The heads of state in most nations are considerably better off than the average citizen -- wealthier, better-educated, privileged in a wide variety of ways, and that while a president or prime minister is in office, he or she enjoys many perquisites that most of us do not and that many people resent.
